Eyelid surgery really rejuvenates your face...

Anyone considering eyelid surgery should realize the importance of that area of the face. The eyes are what people look at when they talk to you, so anything you can do to improve the eyes will result in a more youthful appearance of the whole face. The eyebrows can be positioned with a browlift, which is performed endoscopically to minimize the incisions and recovery. The extra upper eyelid skin is removed with a simple excision in order to produce a nice upper eyelid crease. The lower eyelid will often have excess fat that is removed through an incision inside the eyelid. This procedure is often combined with laser resurfacing to smooth the skin. It is extremely important to tailor a facelift procedure to fit the individual patient. Many patients may do well with what is called a mini-facelift (S-lift, weekend facelift). Typically, these patients have minor drooping of the neck and jowls, which requires a smaller procedure that will incur less healing time and a lower cost. However, if a patient has a very heavy neck, jowls, or cheeks, then a full facelift should be performed. Liposuction is a special type of cosmetic surgery in that significant changes can be made through a tiny incision. Liposuction procedures can range from small minor cases where a laser or ultrasound is used, to large cases where several body areas are recontoured at one time. For example, just this week we had a patient that was in good shape and worked out regularly, but just had a little excess fat in the hip region which we recontoured in a simple minor procedure.
